Women's Interview Fashion

"Dress for Success"
Last week I talked about how Men should dress up for an interview, so this week i am going to do my very best to talk about how women should dress up for an interview. If i get anything wrong or you guys think that there is a better way let me know in the comments below.

So let's get started.

When picking a suite to wear to an interview, it should be a typical A dark matching 2 piece gray navy or black suite is recommended. you girls are able to pull off the dark suites better than us men as you are able to compliment the suite with a light colored blouse or cotton shirt. When picking the suite it is recommended that you wear pants as most companies prefer you to were pants but there are some exception where some companies will prefer for you to were a skirt instead so before going to out to purchase i would recommend you buy the pants and the skirt so you will be prepared for any situation.

When you are buying your suite jacket make sure to buy a jacket that is a fit for you, some of the items on the jacket may be altered but some cant so be careful. i'll list some of the items that i would look for when i am buying a suite:

  1. Do the shoulders of the jacket look straight?
  2. Check if the jacket waist is the correct size
  3. Are the jacket sleeves the correct length?
(jacket sleeves end at the wrist) - my opinion
  4. Pants, Skirts or BOTH?

If you are going to were pants to you interview you should make sure that the pant length comes down to just half way of your shoes heel.

If the company that you are going to go to an interview is company where all the women are wearing skirts then you probably might want to were hosiery, if you want to make sure just drive by the office building either during the morning or afternoon when every one is either entering or exiting the building. *Note that the skirt length should cover your thighs when you are sitting down.

The shoes you were are obviously going to be heeled closed toe shoes. The heels of the shoe should not be longer than 2.5 inches(6.35 cm). The color of the shoes should also be the same color of your suit, so if you are wearing a dark navy jacket you should were a dark navy shoe.

You can were jewelry to an interview but not excessive i would recommend not wearing a bracelets or hanging earrings and if u have multiple piercing just go with one small ear ring which is suitable and a simple ring/wedding ring/engagement ring on your finger are acceptable, make sure its only 1 of those no more than that.

Other Details to look at when preparing your self would be:

  • Carry either a purse or a portfolio
  • nails are manicured with a neutral polish
  • minimal make up to indicate your professional image
  • hair neatly groomed and away from your face
  • conservative watch.
some thing that you should not do:
  • were bright colored hosiery
  • strong perfume
  • wet hair
  • visible body tattoos or piercing

Men's Interview Fashion

Getting Dressed for an Interview?

"Dress For Success" is what everyone says when someone is getting ready to go to an interview, when picking a suit that you will be wearing to an interview it should be always be either grey (preferably dark grey or charcoal colour) or Navy. These 2 colours are the widely excepted interview suit colours.

If you are going on your 1st interview its best to wear a Dark grey or charcoal colored suit.

Choosing the color of the suit is not really that important, the most important thing is the fact that the suit has to be the right fit?

Below is a list of some of the items you should look at when buying a suit from the store.

  1. Do the shoulder's of the suit look straight?
  2. Check if the jacket waist is the correct size
  3. Are the sleeves the correct length?

  4. Do the pants stay on your hips without a belt?
  5. Are the pants slim? (not skinny or baggy)
  6. Are the pants the correct length?

If all of these items check out then you have your perfect suit, but some of the things are a little too big you might be able to get them adjusted by a tailor to fit you, the only item that cant be adjusted is item number 1 on my check list above. If the shoulders aren't straight when you put on your suit then you might want to try another till you get the perfect one.

*Friendly reminder while you are out buying your suit make sure you buy a shirt that is also your correct fit.

The shoes that you were to an interview should closed toe shoes which should be in black.
